When we come to the verses under discussion here, we see that he is continuing with the same train of thought — here comparing the glory of heavenly bodies with the glory of earthly bodies. This verse simply continues his comparison — there is no reason to believe that all of a sudden he decides to talk about different levels of heaven!

The very next verse substantiates this quite well:. It is sown a perishable body. It is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. Notice the continued parallelism — perishable, imperishable; dishonor, glory. Since it is therefore obvious that Paul is describing the nature of the resurrection body and not different levels of heaven, what about the passage at 2 Corinthians ?

The Bible does describe three heavens. The first heaven is that of the sky above us — the atmosphere of the earth. I finally get to post something. They will live together for eternity with those of their family who qualify. In the scriptures this kingdom is compared to the glory or brightness of the sun. People who do not accept the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ but live honorable lives will receive a place in the terrestrial kingdom. This kingdom is compared to the glory of the moon.

Those who continued in their sins and did not repent in this life will receive their reward in the lowest kingdom, which is called the telestial kingdom. This kingdom is compared to the glory of the stars.

Scripture supports this assertion. New Testament commentator Philip E. Another passage Mormons use to support their view is John I go to prepare a place for you. The Lord has said that we will be blessed and will live in a degree of glory in the next life according to the eternal laws we obey in mortality.

A simple reading of chapters 13 and 14 of John can help the reader understand what Jesus meant. He then told Peter he was going to deny his Lord three times — Thomas asked Jesus how His followers could know the way to truth —7 , and Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father vv.

In light of this context, John describes the encouragement Jesus was giving to Peter and the others as He promised His friends He would not abandon them, even after His death.
